Working Together
As an elected MLA, I can be your voice. Here are some of the ways I can help you…
Meet with you or your organisation to understand your issues and ideas.
Visit your community organisation and speak to issues you are interested in
Raise concerns through the media to bring attention to issues
Use her social media to expand the profile of your events, issues or ideas
Make representations direct to government Ministers on your behalf for access to ACT government services
If you have an issue with Housing ACT, please consider completing the Housing ACT consent form which ensures that Housing ACT will provide details in their responses, please provide this to your Housing ACT Property Manager and send a copy to Barry@parliament.act.gov.au. The consent form can be found on the ACT Government website.
Provide a letter of support to help you access Commonwealth services
You should provide details of your issue and what you’d like me to advocate for, and include details of any communication you have had with the Commonwealth agency
Raise issues of concern in the Legislative Assembly this can be by:
Asking formal questions on notice. Questions on notice and the answers to those questions are published on the ACT Legislative Assembly website.
Asking questions without notice during the question time debate, this occurs every sitting day at 2.00pm and a live assembly stream can be viewed online.
Raising the issue with the Minister
Supporting an enquiry in a Committee. Details of Current Committee enquiries are available online.
Sponsor your petition to the Legislative Assembly
Petitions are an effective way to demonstrate broad support for your issue and can result in a Committee of the Assembly conducting a formal inquiry. If you are interested in getting a petition going, my office can talk you through the process.
I run regular policy discussion forums to hear the views of the electorate and for her portfolios, these are advertised on the Events page on this website. Let my office know if you would like to be added to the invitation list for these.
In the Assembly, I can:
Propose a Motion that can direct the government to do something
Propose an amendment to ACT Legislation
Propose new Legislation
Propose to repeal existing Legislation
Propose to disallow a Disallowable instrument
Initiate an inquiry by a Committee

“The problem with society today is that we expect so much from everyone else but ourselves. The reality is that we are all collectively responsible for the society we live in.”
